This may or may not be related to you, but if you use Bitly as a URL shortener for your site, you should be aware that they’ve created a partnership with Viglink that will allow them to insert affiliate links into your shared URLs. Let’s say you also sell some products on Amazon and you use your own referral link: this means that your referral could be overridden by Bitly, so you may want to consider alternatives.

And there’s your PSA for this week 🙂 . Now onto a short-news Friday:

  • Here’s a new free WooCommerce extension to check out: WooCommerce Prevent Purchase, which can be used for “in-store” only products or anything that should not be purchasable.

  • For you Easy Digital Downloads users, I’d recommend checking out the new Startup theme from Array, which is beautiful for general shops or marketplaces.

  • Pippin Williamson has some great notes on why you should love your webhost, especially if you depend on it for your eCommerce business.

  • Related to hosting, two of the hosts I recommend and have had good experiences with in the past made big announcements this week:

  • Practical Ecommerce has some tips for you on encouraging account creation at checkout without increasing abandonment.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your weekend!
